Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. Her family often relied on free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times excessively, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran struggled at school and later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic primary school. After failing several courses in her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and was a D-student when she graduated.
